Anyone embarking on a demanding rally like the Bosniarallye knows the importance of choosing the right tires. It can make the difference between maximum riding fun and a real struggle to get through. Right now, I’m facing a decision: Continental TKC 80 or Mitas Enduro Rally XT+?
The Classic: Continental TKC 80
The Conti TKC 80 is a true classic among adventure motorcycle tires. Proven for decades, it offers solid performance on a variety of surfaces.

Advantages:
- Good traction on loose surfaces like gravel and mud
- Comfortable handling on asphalt
- Proven durability
Disadvantages:
- Not the best tire for extremely muddy sections
- Can wear out relatively quickly on long asphalt stretches
Price:
- Approx. €120 per tire (depending on size and supplier)
The Challenger: Mitas Enduro Rally XT+
The Mitas Enduro Rally XT+ is a relatively new player on the market, specifically aimed at hardcore enduro and rally riders. Developed for tough terrain, it boasts an aggressive tread pattern and reinforced carcass.

Advantages:
- Extremely good off-road performance, especially in challenging terrain
- Very robust construction for long rally stages
- Excellent self-cleaning properties in mud
Disadvantages:
- Limited road suitability, especially on wet pavement
- Unclear how quickly it wears on long-distance rides
Price:
- Approx. €110 per tire (depending on size and supplier)
My Consideration
The Bosniarallye features a mix of rocky mountain trails, fast gravel tracks, and potentially muddy sections after rain. The TKC 80 would be the safer choice for a solid all-around performance. However, the Mitas XT+ might deliver exactly the traction I need for demanding off-road sections.
Right now, I’m leaning towards testing the Mitas to see how it performs under real rally conditions. If it proves itself, it could be a great alternative to the TKC 80 for tougher off-road tours.
What do you think? Does anyone have experience with the Mitas Enduro Rally XT+? I’d love to hear your opinions!
